- For each item, check the category UsernamePortfolio, where Username is YOUR username, of course.
- Remember to Update the item.
- Look for your UsernamePortfolio in the blog sidebar with a number in parentheses indicating how many items it contains.
- Your target number is 8 items.

– Continuing to go over our portfolio. It should be finished soon because you’re grading. You’ll confirm our grade conference with initials. Come to class on Thursday for or conference and grade confirmation.
– We have to fill out our teacher survey.
– While writing, we do not say that something is our point of view. Just say what it should be or how it should make everyone feel. Sentences should not say “it seems to me”.
-When we disagree on a claim, we have to fully explain that claim and dispute it.

1. Thursday: Attend to class to revise the final portfolio in class.
2. Avoid language that makes you sound like a conspiracy theorist:
– Find a way to indicate that something is likely to happen instead of using phrases like “It seems to me.”
3. If one has a source to refute, it is needed to present the argument made by the worthy opponent clearly.
4. When refuting a source, establish your position clearly so that the audience can recognize the purpose of your paper.

• Class is MANDATORY Thursday. It is extremely important to attend because we are double checking portfolio’s. We will be dismissed as soon as Professor Hodges checks our portfolio.
• Final conference will be confirmed after Professor double checks to make sure all items are in our portfolio. Professor will put his initials next to our appointment on the conference sheet
• We are allowed to continue editing after Thursday.
• Final grade conference notes: come to this classroom
• References should be listed and numbered alphabetically.
• If we want feedback, comment specific questions do not just place in feedback please.
• Avoid using parentheses when doing in- text citations (Sorry, I am one of them. I have fixed them.)

Attendance is mandatory on Thursday December 6th for verify the completion of your portfolio and confirm the date of your grading conference. Professor Hodges would like us to complete his course evaluation on banner. Do not sound like a crank. Follow the link to my essay for an example on how to properly reference sources. Publications get italics and article titles get put in quotation marks. “Bullers wrongly claims….” I need to improve the content of my rebuttal.

The Portfolio is due Thursday, class is mandatory. All the items need to be accounted for, but revision can be done even after submitting the assignment.
Writing from our own point view is significantly weaker then just stating what the argument or evidence suggest. It’s better to state how the claims should make the reader feel, or the affect they should have on others.
Let readers make their own conclusions. Plant the ideas into the minds of the reader so they can draw the same conclusions as the writer.

Come prepared with your 8 items placed in your portfolio, we will all display to Hodge what we have seperately.
-Schedule end of semester MANDATORY meeting with Hodge *check*

-When refuting a claim, make sure to accurately provide the authors POV and then why you disagree.

-continue to ask for feedback as long as you ask a specific question
-make the boldest claim you can with the smallest amount of info you can prove
-when you have claims to make that you can only suggest are true, your reader may not think it’s true.
-don’t say “it seems to me.” Your personal opinion may sound like a lunatic
– “seems to me” evidence isn’t worth much. Still make the point though. There’s a least a possibility of fraud.

-publications in italics, articles in quotes
-make sure references are in alphabetical order. They don’t have to be numbered
-make sure include how you disagree with the refutation. “It is valid but wrong.”
