We need a place to collect Claims Types, to assist students BEFORE they complete their claims evaluation exercises such as the Safer Saws assignment.
The assignment itself names a few types, but does not at all communicate that:
- Being able to identify Claim Types actually matters.
- Purely factual claims are rare.
- Claims identified as Opinion may indeed express opinion, but might at the same time be Causal claims, Proposal claims, Evaluative and/or Insinuation claims.
- The “Insufficient Evidence” refutation is no refutation at all.
