Money plays a huge role in our society today and without any, survival would become vastly difficult. Although not always tangible, its value is forever known by its owners; as long as they allow the banking system to handle their money, which would requires trust in both in that banking system and the government. What we as a society tend to neglect is the fact that money is not actually real; it is the the exact belief of its existence that what makes it endure. For most of us when we get paid, the money is directly transferred into our accounts and then spent without actually seeing a single physical dollar of it. Imagine what would happen if that trust in its existence and the banks to protect our money ever faltered.

Revised Version:
Money seems to have a big role in our society. It is a necessity and nothing much can be done without it. It’s value can be represented in different ways. In order for this to work, faith in the government and the banking system that our money is being handled correctly is required. Either trust has to be placed in some organization or not. If it’s the latter, money has to be hidden while its value being recognized. Banks say that they handle money correctly but no one can be sure if that’s 100% the case. Yep Fei, US gold, French francs, Brazilian cruzeros, and debit accounts now seem similar. The owner of his/her money don’t actually see what goes behind the scenes with their transactions. For example, whenever someone gets paid, they aren’t handed a check and they aren’t paid in cash. The payment is a deposit into their bank account and trust has to be placed in the banking system that their deposit is handled correctly.

In today’s society you must have faith in the government and in the banking system that your money is being handled in the proper manner; if not, then you would have to hide all of your money under your mattress or around your house. I have no clue what happens in the banks, or how they take care of your money. I always thought money was simple; you either have some or you don’t—that’s it. In today’s society we put trust in the government and banking system to handle our money in the proper manner; if not, we would begin to hide our money under mattresses or around the house. The banks don’t explain what they do or how they take care of the money. The concept of money was always simple; we either have some or we don’t– that’s it. Money has a big role in our society; we can’t do much, or get far without money. Money is valuable whether it’s in a pocket, bank account, stocks, or any other means of keeping money. In today’s society, money is backed by public faith in the government and the banking system. We have to believe that our money is being handled in the proper manner. If not, then we would all revert to the cliche of hiding our cash under the mattress. I don’t claim to be an expert on how banks handle money, or the economy. In fact, I used to believe that we either have money, or we don’t. However, after being introduced to this assignment, the Yap Fei, US gold, French francs, Brazilian cruzeros, and debit accounts are much familiar concepts. I’ve even learned why money is backed by faith. No one sees their money being transferred between banks or on the web. When we get paid, we aren’t handed cash, we don’t receive a physical check (at least most of us nowadays), the money’s all directly transferred to an account. We all trust that the numbers on a screen mean we have money, despite there being no proof that any of transferring or moving of physical money happened.
